STAFF PROFILES
Neil Hamilton-Smith – Senior Consultant
BA(UQ), FCITL, MACRS, JP (Qual.)
Neil had 30 years experience in the Queensland Public Service where he rose to the position of Assistant Commissioner of the Transport Department and has spent the past 10 years as a consultant to the public and private sector. As Assistant Commissioner (Transport) and Secretary of the Department Neil was responsible for policy and legislation covering the transport sector including motor vehicles, taxis, buses, marine and aviation legislation.
As Secretary of the Queensland Road safety Council Neil developed and implemented a number of high profile multimedia campaigns. He has also worked in State Ministerial offices as Senior Media adviser and senior Policy Adviser. During his time as a senior public servant Neil completed study tours of the USA, United Kingdom, Europe and New Zealand for which he presented reports to the State Government. He represented Queensland on a number of national committees and provided policy advice to Governments and the Opposition on a wide range of issues.
Neil been closely involved in providing comments on Transport policy over the last decade and is well known and respected within the transport sector.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Arts majoring in Journalism, Government and Public Administration, University of Queensland
- Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics
- Member of the Australian College of Road Safety
- Justice of the Peace (Qualified).
